Dam part with Lal

Dam and guitarist Lal have parted ways. His contributions have played a crucial part in shaping the sound of Dam, and we are sorry to see him go. We wish him all the best in his future endeavours.

Guitarist and brother-in-arms Dan 'Ropeman' Knight of Ted Maul will be handling live guitar duties for the forseeable future. Dam are currently seeking a full-time replacement.

Obituary show

Dam will be sharing a stage with US death Metal legends Obituary for an exclusive UK show at the Underworld in London on thursday 5 July. Also playing that night will be eighties thrash heavyweights Onslaught as well as pure deathblast mentalists Dead Beyond Buried. The show will be at the Underworld and will therefore almost certainly sell out, so buy your tickets now!

Dam announce new drummer - album release date announced - 09.05.2007

UK extreme metal band Dam have issued the following update:

Drummer Brad Merry — otherwise known for his work with London-based extreme Death Grind outfit TrenchHead — has joined Dam.

"It's a privilege to have someone as enthusiastic, focused and dedicated as Brad within our ranks." remarks guitarist/vocalist Nathan. "Producing anything that matches the tracks that have been laid down for 'The Difference Engine' is no mean feat but I have no doubt that Brad will be up to the task."

"I've been a fan of Dam's music for a while now, but the new material is unbelievable!" Brad enthuses, "It is pure unadulturated darkness! This is a great opportunity and I'm really looking forward to playing the songs live!"

Brad Merry Plays Grindstix exclusively.

In other news, Candlelight Records have formally announced the European release date for Dam's latest album "The Difference Engine" as the 27th of September 2007. The release date for the US is yet to be confirmed.

Drummer Gomez leaves Dam - 06.04.2007

Drummer Gomez has parted with Dam.

"I have decided to leave the band due to personal differences. After such a long time and countless hours of work, I have to admit that it hasn't been an easy decision to take, particularly at this point when we have just finished a killer second album: "The Difference Engine".

The "personal differences" were making things uncomfortable for everyone and I believe that this is not fair on any of us. We're not making millions of pounds with this band, so I guess we may as well just try and be happy - I wasn't.

Thanks to all the fans, friends and bands that supported us. I hope I get to see some familiar faces in the future when performing with Elsa Drake and Moth lite. I will also be looking to join another metal band in the future.

I'm very proud of the work I did for Dam.

I wish my now ex-band mates the best luck in the future.

Gomez"

DAM album nears completion - Album title revealed - 25.01.2007

London extreme metallers DAM's next album is in the final stages of production of their second album, titled "The Difference Engine" to be released by CANDLELIGHT RECORDS later this year.

An advance non-finalised version of the title track has been made available in the Metal Hammer UK covermount CD as well as on the band's myspace page

Guitarist/Vocalist Nathan speaks about the album:

After several long months of writing, recording, mixing, re-recording, re-mixing, arguing, soul-searching, and returning to old mixes, we are finally coming to a stage where the fruit of all our efforts is in sight. The guitars sound massive. The feel of the music itself is epic. We've brought in some extra special guest performers who have made sterling contributions to some of the songs on the album.
The recording itself was made in part in London's Eastcote Studios with Finnish producer Anders Nuberg at the helm, and I think his unique approach has produced exceptional results.

Drummer Gomez offers his thoughts:

This record will change the world. I'm extremely excited about it. It was - and still is - a very intense process. But I believe that, as anyone who listens to the final product will be able to hear for themselves, it's definitely been worth the effort. The whole thing is going to be very organic and visceral.
As for the drums themselves there's pretty much no editing! I rather have that, than "perfect" lifeless takes that sound totally unnatural. I give you the real deal, as it should be.
